Any hereditary condition caused by a known genetic mutation can be prevented through IVF combined with Pre-Implantation Genetic Testing (PGT). By testing embryos before transfer, we ensure only genetically healthy embryos are selected, reducing the risk of passing on inherited disorders to your child.

What Are the Steps and Duration of an IVF Journey With PGT?
Before PGT can be performed, the specific hereditary condition carried by one or both partners must be identified through genetic testing. Once the condition is confirmed, completing PGT alongside an IVF-ICSI cycle does not extend the overall treatment timeline.
After Egg Retrieval, and once fertilization is achieved, a small biopsy is taken from each embryo and analyzed in the Genetics Lab. Only healthy, disease-free embryos are selected for transfer. The full process typically takes around 15 to 20 days.
Ovarian Stimulation (7 to 10 days):
Starting on Day 2 or 3 of the menstrual cycle, medication is given to stimulate the growth of multiple follicles. Throughout stimulation, follicle development is monitored through ultrasound and hormone levels through blood tests. Medication may be adjusted as needed. An hCG trigger shot is administered 36–40 hours before Egg Retrieval to ensure proper egg maturation.
Egg Retrieval (OPU):
Eggs are collected using a thin ultrasound-guided needle during a short procedure performed under sedation. The number of eggs retrieved depends on the individual’s response to stimulation.
Sperm Collection and ICSI:
On the same day as Egg Retrieval, a semen sample is collected. To maximize fertilization, a single sperm is injected directly into each mature egg using a precise technique known as ICSI.
Pre-Implantation Genetic Testing (PGT):
PGT is performed to screen embryos for the specific hereditary condition carried by the parents. Three to five days after retrieval, a small biopsy is taken from each embryo and analyzed in our advanced Genetics Lab. Results are reviewed with you before embryo selection.
Embryo Transfer (ET):
Embryo Transfer is a simple procedure that does not require sedation. After the transfer, hormone levels are monitored through blood tests to confirm pregnancy.

Is Gender Selection or Chromosomal Screening Possible With PGT?
Yes. Comprehensive Chromosomal Screening (CCS) can be performed alongside PGT for couples who wish to screen embryos for chromosomal abnormalities or determine gender. Your physician will guide you on whether combining these tests is appropriate for your treatment plan.
