IVF-ICSI Programs

At Cosmomed Fertility Center, we specialize in In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) — a process in which eggs from the wife and sperm from the husband are collected and fertilized in our advanced Embryology Laboratory. To enhance the chances of successful fertilization, a single sperm is precisely injected into each retrieved egg through a technique known as Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI).

  1. Benefits of IVF–ICSI

IVF with Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) has been proven to significantly enhance fertilization success in most cases. This advanced technique is particularly beneficial in situations such as:

  2. Steps and Duration of an IVF–ICSI Cycle

During your initial consultation, our fertility specialist will review your complete medical history and may conduct an ultrasound scan and hormone tests to assess your reproductive health. Based on these results, a personalized treatment plan will be created to suit your specific needs.

Once IVF–ICSI is confirmed as the most suitable treatment, the full cycle typically takes around 21 to 25 days to complete.

Ovarian Stimulation (7 to 10 Days):

Beginning on Day 2 or 3 of the menstrual cycle, medications are prescribed to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple mature follicles. Throughout this period, follicular development is closely monitored using ultrasound scans, and hormone levels are assessed through blood tests. The medication dosage may be adjusted based on your response. Approximately 36 to 40 hours before the scheduled egg retrieval, an hCG “trigger” injection is administered to help the eggs reach full maturity in preparation for collection.

    Egg Retrieval (OPU):

Eggs are collected using a thin, ultrasound-guided needle during a brief procedure performed under sedation. The total number of eggs retrieved varies depending on how the body responds to the ovarian stimulation.

    Sperm Collection and ICSI:

On the day of egg retrieval, a semen sample is collected to fertilize the eggs. To maximize the chances of fertilization, a single sperm is carefully injected into each egg using a precise technique known as Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI).

    Optional Genetic Testing (GT):

For couples opting for **Comprehensive Chromosomal Screening (CCS)**, which may include Gender Selection, or **Pre-Implantation Genetic Testing (PGT)** to prevent hereditary diseases, a small biopsy is taken from each embryo 3 to 5 days after egg retrieval. The samples are analyzed in the Genetics Lab, and only healthy embryos are selected for transfer to the uterus.

    Embryo Transfer (ET):

Embryo transfer is a simple, minimally invasive procedure that does not require sedation. After the transfer, hormone levels are monitored through blood tests to confirm pregnancy.

  3. Will Every Fertilized Egg Develop Into a Healthy Embryo?

Not every egg collected will fertilize or develop into a viable embryo. It is normal to see variations in embryo development stages and quality after fertilization. Once fertilization occurs, our embryologists will evaluate and provide a detailed assessment of each embryo’s quality.

  4. Should I Consider IVF–ICSI? Are There Other Options?

Every couple’s situation is unique, so it’s important to review your full medical history with a fertility specialist before deciding on treatment. At Cosmomed Fertility Center, Fujairah, we understand that fertility challenges can be emotionally and financially demanding, and we are committed to supporting you and your partner on your journey toward parenthood.

  5. Is It Possible to Start Treatment in My Home Country?

Many couples initiate ovarian stimulation in their home country (about 10 days of medication) and then come to the UAE for 7 to 9 days to complete egg retrieval, fertilization through ICSI, and embryo transfer.
