Family Balancing Options
With modern reproductive technologies, it is now possible to determine the gender of embryos before pregnancy using IVF combined with Comprehensive Chromosomal Screening (CCS), also known as Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnosis Testing (PGT).

What Is Comprehensive Chromosomal Screening (CCS)?
Comprehensive Chromosomal Screening (CCS), also called "embryo screening," is a test performed on a few cells from the embryo. CCS offers important benefits:
Checks all 24 chromosomes for abnormalities, including Down syndrome and Edwards syndrome
Determines the gender of embryos
Identifies embryos without chromosomal issues, lowering the risk of miscarriage

What Are the Steps and Duration of Family Balancing?
Including CCS in an IVF–ICSI cycle does not extend the overall treatment time. After egg retrieval and fertilization, a small biopsy is taken from each embryo 3 to 5 days later for testing in the Genetics Lab. Healthy embryos of the chosen gender are then selected for transfer. The full process typically takes 15 to 20 days.
Ovarian Stimulation (7 to 10 Days):
Starting on Day 2 or 3 of the menstrual cycle, medications are given to stimulate multiple ovarian follicles. Follicle growth is monitored with ultrasounds, and hormone levels are checked via blood tests. Dosages may be adjusted as needed. Around 36 to 40 hours before egg retrieval, an hCG "trigger" injection is administered to mature the eggs.
Egg Retrieval (OPU):
Eggs are collected using a thin, ultrasound-guided needle during a short, minimally invasive procedure under sedation. The number of eggs retrieved depends on the body’s response to stimulation.
Sperm Collection and ICSI:
On the day of egg retrieval, a semen sample is collected. To maximize fertilization, a single sperm is carefully injected into each egg using the Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) technique.
Comprehensive Chromosomal Screening (CCS):
CCS is performed to detect chromosomal abnormalities and for family balancing. A biopsy is taken from each embryo 3 to 5 days after egg retrieval, tested in the Genetics Lab, and the health and gender of the embryos are reviewed with the couple before embryo transfer.
Embryo Transfer (ET):
Embryo transfer is a simple, minimally invasive procedure that does not require sedation. After the transfer, hormone levels are monitored through blood tests to confirm pregnancy.
