Retrograde Ejaculation
Normally, the bladder sphincter closes during ejaculation, directing semen out through the urethra. In cases of retrograde ejaculation, the bladder sphincter does not close properly, causing sperm to flow backward into the bladder and mix with urine.

Retrograde Ejaculation
The good news is that in most cases, sperm can still be retrieved successfully, either from the urine or using Testicular Sperm Aspiration (TESA) for use in IVF-ICSI treatments.
Common Causes of Retrograde Ejaculation:
- Diabetes
- Certain medications
- Congenital (birth) conditions
- Injuries affecting the reproductive tract
- Previous surgeries
